Here are 5 (or more) local things to support this weekend:

1: Waukesha City Pools Open June 7

It’s finally warm enough to want to cool off. City pools open Friday, June 7, and snagging a seasonal pass is the most budget-friendly way to support our local parks while keeping your summer plans simple. Our pools at Horeb and Buchner are family classics and every pass sold keeps these city gems funded.

1a: BuchnerFest

To celebrate the pools opening, BuchnerFest will feature activities from the Waukesha Public Library, Waukesha Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department, Waukesha County Dairy Promotions.

P.S. We heard there’s free ice cream!

4. ☕ Spotlight: Waukesha Café House

If you’ve driven past without going in, change that this week. Owner Mojib and family have created a beautiful little Azeri haven in Waukesha where you can blend both authentic (Turkish coffee, baklava) and familiar flavors. Their pastry collection is delicious and vibrant with color, and their breakfast/lunch sandwiches are exactly what you’d hope for at a nice café.

Stop in and enjoy a latte (built upside-down), or get super-charged with a traditional Turkish coffee. Word on the street is that the upstairs will soon have a bar serving alcohol one night a week.

5. 🚴 Trail of the Week: Cushing Park Road Trail

A stretch of the Route of the Badger, this paved 3 mile trail connects Cushing Memorial Park in Delafield with scenic views, shaded paths, and a strong chance of spotting local wildlife. Easy to access, stroller-friendly, and a great option for weekend bike rides or morning walks.
